Gettin’ Crafty with the Cocktails

From a 1935 book called So Red the Nose, or Breath in the Afternoon, courtesy of Esquire Drinks, we have the Asylum. One never knows what to expect when Matt’s put in charge of evening giggle juice, and today was one of those days. I highly recommend this bizarre drink.

Pour slowly, in order, into an Old-Fashioned glass:

1/2 teaspoon grenadine
1 1/2 oz Pernod
1 1/2 oz London dry gin

Add 2-3 ice cubes.

Serve with stirring rod. Best to let the ice melt a bit before stirring so you can watch the pretty pictures the Pernod makes as it clouds up.
